On June 3-6, in the Republic of Paraguay, a delegation from Quang Tri province led by Mr. Le Van Bao - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the 38th session - UNESCO's International Coordinating Council for the Human and Biological Environment Program (MAB-ICC).
The delegation also included leaders of relevant departments and agencies and the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
The session is an important international forum on nature conservation and sustainable development, discussing the strategic orientations of the MAB Program, considering nominations, expanding and adjusting world biosphere reserves.

This year, the program focuses on MAB's contribution to the Global Biodiversity Framework, the monitoring mechanism for the new phase of the MAB action plan, the role of youth in conservation, and the assessment of world biosphere reserve records.
Within the framework of the program, the Quang Tri delegation attended official meetings with the Vietnam National UNESCO Committee and the Management Board of World Biosphere Reserves in Vietnam, exchanged views with the MAB Secretariat, member countries and international organizations, focusing on the dossier for nominating Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to become a World Biosphere Reserve.
At the same time, the working delegation strengthens international cooperation connections, learns from the experience of managing international titles, promotes natural values and the potential for developing ecotourism, community tourism, and experiential products associated with nature and indigenous culture.
If recognized by UNESCO, Phong Nha - Ke Bang will affirm its international position with a total area of 515,830 ha, spread over 15 communes in Quang Tri province, including the core zone, buffer zone and transition zone; owning a typical tropical forest ecosystem on limestone mountains in Southeast Asia, thousands of rare and endemic animal and plant species that need to be prioritized for conservation.
The participation in the 38th MAB-ICC demonstrates Quang Tri's proactive international integration in nature conservation and sustainable development, opening up opportunities for international cooperation, improving the management capacity of international titles, contributing to promoting green economy, sustainable tourism and improving the quality of people's lives.
