On the evening of August 23, Sa Pa Ward People's Committee organized the opening of the Autumn Festival with the theme "Sa Pa - Golden Season Festival".
This is a key event in the series of activities of the Sa Pa Autumn Festival 2026.
The event also welcomes the 12th Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference of 5 provinces and cities between Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and Yunnan province (China).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Dang Viet Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of Sa Pa Ward People's Committee emphasized that autumn is the time when Sa Pa has a unique beauty with terraced fields in the ripe rice season, mountain and forest scenery and diverse cultural space of ethnic groups.
According to Mr. Dang Viet Dung, the festival is an opportunity to promote the landscape, culture and people of Sa Pa, and at the same time strengthen connectivity and cooperation in tourism, investment, trade and culture between Lao Cai and localities in the country and Yunnan province.
With the theme "Sa Pa - Golden Season Festival", this year's festival has many activities such as the first Northwest Brocade Carnival, Ban May Golden Season Festival, "Golden Colors in the Clouds" program, recreating the Highland Market and Sa Pa Love Market.
The highlight of the opening night is the art program "Sa Pa - Autumn returns to the land of heritage", combining traditional and modern art, introducing the natural beauty and unique cultural identity of Sa Pa.
The festival took place in the atmosphere of celebrating the 12th Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference of 5 provinces and cities.
The event is expected to contribute to promoting exchanges, connections and expanding cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism and culture between Vietnamese localities and Yunnan province.
According to the development orientation, Sa Pa is focusing on building into an international-standard resort tourism center, with a focus on infrastructure development, service quality improvement, cultural preservation and environmental protection.
The locality sets a target to welcome over 12 million visitors by 2030, gradually affirming its position as the leading tourist destination of Vietnam and the region.
Through records, the central area became bustling with many people and tourists.
The streets and event venues are decorated, and many cultural and artistic activities attract the attention of tourists.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Bui Thi Hai Van (Hanoi) said: "The festival atmosphere is very exciting, the scenery of Sa Pa in autumn is beautiful and art programs create more interesting experiences for the trip.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Dinh Tuan, a tourist from Hai Phong, was impressed with the activities introducing traditional culture, especially brocade costumes, folk art and experiences associated with the lives of ethnic minorities.
What I like most is being able to directly experience and learn about local culture. Activities like this help the trip to Sa Pa have more memories," the male tourist said.
Not only creating more experiences for tourists, the festival also contributes to promoting the scenery, culture and typical products, thereby increasing the attractiveness of Sa Pa tourism in the autumn.
