In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Nguyen Van Khoi emphasized that this year's festival is an important step forward to build the Soc Trang festival brand and promote and stimulate tourism in the province. Thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, strengthening national solidarity.
With its potential and advantages, Soc Trang province hopes that domestic and foreign businesses and investors will come to the locality to seek investment opportunities, cooperate and develop together.
On this occasion, the representative of the Vietnam Record Organization presented the decision and certificate of recognition for the largest scale performance of Khmer Pentatonic music in Soc Trang province in Vietnam, gathering 20 Pentatonic ensembles with about 200 actors and musicians participating in the performance.
After the opening ceremony, there was an art program with the theme of Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups integrating and developing. The art performances were elaborately staged and performed by artists inside and outside the province, expressing the joy and happiness of the Khmer people and ethnic communities in the province during the Ooc Om Boc Festival; introducing the culture and people of Soc Trang in integration and development.
