The year-end festive season in Sa Pa seems to have a special appeal on cold winter days, with a series of interesting events awaiting visitors. The Christmas atmosphere in the "foggy land" of Sa Pa is as bustling as in European towns. Located in the middle of town, Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery stands out like a sparkling fairytale palace during the Christmas season.
From the first days of December, the festive atmosphere has spread to every corner of the hotel with Fusion-style architecture, reminiscent of a French castle from the 1920s and 1930s. The opening ceremony is the lighting of a giant Christmas tree in a space decorated with the theme of White Christmas.
Guests spending Christmas in Sa Pa had the opportunity to experience a luxurious Christmas party with the theme “Star on a Plate” on the evening of December 7. The rare international culinary event in the Northwest brought together 5 talented chefs at the hotel. It was a “10-hand dinner” of Michelin star standard.
Normally, “4-hand dinner” or “6-hand dinner” is a familiar concept to diners who are passionate about fine cuisine. These are impromptu parties between the host chef and guest chefs, gathering 2 to 4 chefs to cook, create and learn more about local culinary culture. But “10-hand dinner” is a rare event in Vietnam.
The chefs participating in the event include Chef Oliver Mette from Hotel de la Coupole with 25 years of experience, Chef Joonhyuk Chi from Michelin Selected restaurant Labri in Hanoi, Chef Olivier Corti from Michelin Selected restaurant Le Comptoir in Da Nang, Chef Benoit Leloup from Hotel des Arts Saigon, and Chef Benjamin Lysik from 2 Michelin-starred restaurant Arbor in Hong Kong (China).
The 10-course Christmas dinner menu features 14 dishes that combine local ingredients and the culinary artistry of international chefs.
Chef Oliver Mette opened the impressive 10-person banquet with a typical Northern Vietnamese pickle with pickled chili and French cold cuts. The following dishes took the guests on a culinary journey of surprise after surprise.
Grilled Wagyu beef tenderloin BBQ with persimmons in fish sauce by chef Benoit Leloup, monkfish Bouillabaisse soup with Ly Son garlic rouille and saffron by chef Olivier Corti... are all interesting creations. Each main course is delicately combined with a different drink to enhance the flavor and stimulate the taste buds.
Although the 10-armed feast only takes place for one night, the festive dining experience at this 5-star hotel awaits guests until the end of January 2025.
