According to Mr. Linh, the pole-raising ceremony on Tet holiday is a traditional custom of Vietnamese people, signaling the beginning of a new year and when the pole is lowered, it is also the time when farmers go to the fields to plow on the 7th of January. The pole-raising ceremony, also known as the Shangxiao ceremony, is an indispensable ritual during the Lunar New Year in Vietnam. When the pole is raised, it signals the official beginning of Tet.
