Speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Ba Linh - Director of the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center said that the flag raising ceremony is the starting event for a series of activities to welcome the Spring of At Ty 2025.
This year's flag-raising ceremony was attended by many students in the Ho Dynasty Citadel heritage area and a large number of people and tourists from all over.
According to Mr. Linh, the pole-raising ceremony on Tet holiday is a traditional custom of Vietnamese people, signaling the beginning of a new year and when the pole is lowered, it is also the time when farmers go to the fields to plow on the 7th of January. The pole-raising ceremony, also known as the Shangxiao ceremony, is an indispensable ritual during the Lunar New Year in Vietnam. When the pole is raised, it signals the official beginning of Tet.
“Over the years, the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center has researched and recreated the Tet pole raising ceremony, bringing to the masses, tourists and students the opportunity to experience and better understand the traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people,” Mr. Linh shared.
The activity aims to carry out an educational program for local students to understand the value of the Ho Dynasty Citadel heritage, the traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people that is being maintained and continued in today's life.
According to Mr. Linh, in addition to the flag-raising ceremony, on this occasion, the unit also organized a closing ceremony and awarded prizes for the contest with the theme "Brilliant ancient capital". The contest with the content of video and image contest "Ho Dynasty Citadel heritage summer", launched 3 months ago, received the attention and participation of many students from Tay Do Secondary School.
