At a recent meeting discussing solutions and orientations for tourism development in the new situation, representatives of a number of businesses and travel companies continued to propose opening more beaches and accompanying products in the middle of Ha Long Bay.
Speaking to direct at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee - requested units to urgently research, build, and diversify tourism products, including beaches in Ha Long Bay.
According to representatives of travel companies, opening more beaches is initially aimed at solving the prolonged problem of a large bay area but only one beach (Ti Top beach). Meanwhile, in Ha Long Bay, there are nearly 200 sand beaches located at the foot of rocky mountains, all of which can become ideal beaches for tourists, especially for those who are willing to spend heavily.
Because there is only one Ti Top beach (located on tourist route No. 2), during peak season, this beach is always overloaded. Meanwhile, tourists traveling on other tourist routes, even passing through many beautiful sand beaches, are not allowed to swim.
That's why there is a situation where tourists travel for 2-3 days in Ha Long Bay but are not allowed to swim.
The plan to open more beaches to serve tourists, and at the same time create a basis for organizing many tourism activities on sand beaches, has been set out for many years.

In 2023, the Ha Long Bay Management Board previously built a beach cluster project in the Tra San - Cong Do area, with an area of about 250 hectares. This area owns many beautiful natural sand beaches, along with coral reefs and diverse aquatic ecosystems.
Tra San - Cong Do beach cluster includes 8 natural sand beaches with an area of 100 m2 to 800 m2, enough to serve tourists' experiential activities. Among them, there are 4 beaches that can serve tourist activities throughout the day without being affected by tidal ups and downs.
It was thought that this beach cluster would be put into service for tourists in 2023. However, the desire to swim at sea of many tourists has not become a reality due to many different opinions.
In 2025, the Ha Long Bay Management Board continued to register to open 3 beaches to serve tourists, including: Soi Sim island beach, Hang Co area (also known as Thien Canh Son cave) and Trinh Nu cave area.
Not only that, Quang Ninh province also plans to open separate beaches to serve millionaire and billionaire tourists around the world.
However, to date, the opening of more beaches is still only in the plan.
Sharing with Lao Dong, representatives of some travel companies, especially companies specializing in serving luxury customers, said that opening more beaches is not only to meet the sea bathing needs of tourists, but also to create a premise for exploiting and developing high-quality tourism products in Ha Long Bay.
Previously, some businesses had piloted and organized quite successful events on the sandy beach in Ha Long Bay, such as fashion shows or light parties for families and groups of billionaire tourists.
