The Do Son buffalo fighting festival is a traditional folk festival that has existed for a long time, preserving the spiritual activities and cultural identity of the community of the people of the Do Son coastal area.
One of the basic characteristics of the Do Son Buffalo fighting Festival is the intersection between the agricultural cultural elements of the plains and the cultural elements of coastal residents, associated with the worship of water god and the fighting and giving birth to buffaloes and animals familiar to farmers.

The festival originated from the worship of the god of the Assumption of the Great King, the god of the children of the land of the Do Son, and was formed and developed over many centuries, passed down from generation to generation and became an indispensable need in the spiritual and spiritual life of the Do Son people.
The water procession is one of the important rituals of the festival, praying for peace and harmony, national peace and happiness for hundreds of families.

The ceremony was held at Nghe Temple - a temple honored as the Venerable, where Hung Tran Diem Tu Dai Than Vuong - Thanh Hoang of the General Do Son and Luc Thu Tien Cong, Bat Bo Ton were worshiped.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the Do Son Ward Buffalo fighting Festival and all the people of Do Son offered incense, bowed to heaven and earth, and the sacred gods allowed to carry water to "paint" to worship at the communal house and village temple, on the morning of the 9th of the 8th lunar month of the year of At Ty, organized a safe and successful Do Son buffalo fighting festival.

The group marched a dragon court, a flagpole, a gong, and a flag to ask for water at the water source of Nghe Temple, contained in a ceramic jar, placed on a kiosk and were grandly carried back to perform the ceremony at the communal house and village temple. The order of asking for water is: Nghe Temple, Ngoc Hai Communal House, Ngoc Xuyen Communal House, Thuong Duc Communal House, Duc Hau Communal House and Bang La Communal House.
After the waterwalk ceremony on the 7th day of the 8th lunar month, the Lunar New Year ceremony and the New Year ceremony will take place on the 10th, the Lunar New Year ceremony on the 16th of the 8th lunar month.
