On the evening of September 4, the World MICE Awards 2024 was held in Ho Chi Minh City .
Ho Chi Minh City was honored to receive a grand prize at the World MICE Awards 2024 when winning all three important categories: Asia's Best MICE Destination; Asia's Best Incentive Destination; Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) was honored as Asia's Best Trade Show.
This is the 5th consecutive time that Ho Chi Minh City has won the category of Asia's Leading MICE Tourism Destination.
This year is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has hosted this award ceremony. This shows that Ho Chi Minh City can meet the requirements of modern infrastructure, combined with rich history and cultural diversity, creating a suitable location for international MICE tourism events.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the city identifies MICE tourism as one of the four main types of tourism that must be invested in and strongly developed.
This award not only demonstrates Ho Chi Minh City’s capabilities and appeal as a leading destination for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry, but also strengthens the city’s position on the international stage.
"The award is also a recognition of the efforts to build Ho Chi Minh City not only as a tourist destination but also to orient the city to become a major tourist connection point in the Asian region associated with the identity of sustainable tourism development, in harmony with cultural, social and environmental values," Ms. Anh Hoa emphasized.

The first time ITE HCMC has been honored is of great significance in the context of the event's efforts to become one of the most influential travel fairs in the Asia region.
After 17 times of organization, ITE HCMC Fair has constantly innovated and improved professionalism in organization.
This further affirms the important role of trade promotion activities to expand the international tourist market to Vietnam, creating opportunities to promote and connect businesses around the world operating in the fields of aviation, hotels, travel, tour operations, tourism management, etc.
This year's ITE HCMC Fair takes place from September 5-7 with the theme Sustainable Tourism - Creating the Future.
In the period of 2022-2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism signed a cooperation agreement with many related units to implement the MICE tourism program with the following key contents: developing and promulgating the Ho Chi Minh City MICE tourism policy, developing tour programs to visit Ho Chi Minh City, and establishing a MICE tourism working group.
With the goal of becoming a leading destination in Asia by 2030, Ho Chi Minh City strives to become an "Open - youthful - vibrant - exciting - future-oriented" city.
This requires Ho Chi Minh City to continue to improve quality, diversify, focus on typical products, destinations and tourism brands, promote demand stimulation and move towards sustainable tourism development.
Previously, on September 3, in Manila (Philippines), the World Travel Awards honored Ho Chi Minh City as Asia's Leading Business Destination; Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination and Asia's Leading City Tourism Agency.
