According to the report of the Statistics Office, in June 2025, the number of international visitors reached nearly 1.5 million, an increase of 17% over the same period last year, contributing to bringing the total number of visitors in the first 6 months of the year to nearly 10.7 million, an increase of 20.7% over the same period last year.
The number of international visitors in the first half of the year was 25.7% higher than the same period in 2019 before the pandemic.
Vietnam's tourism industry has reached nearly 49% of the plan to welcome 22-23 million visitors in 2025.
According to businesses, the tourism industry can completely reach the target of about 22 million visitors during the peak tourist season from around September to December.
China continues to be Vietnam's largest tourist sending market in the first half of 2025 with 2.7 million arrivals (accounting for 25.6%).
South Korea ranked 2nd, reaching 2.2 million (accounting for 20.7%). These two markets alone contributed 46.3% of the total number of international visitors in the past 6 months.
Followed by Taiwan, China (630,000); the US (449,000), Japan (393,000), Cambodia (360,000). In the top 10 largest markets for Vietnam's tourism, there are also India, Australia, Malaysia and Russia.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this growth result comes from the strong attention and direction of the Government, with many policies to remove difficulties, facilitating tourism development, especially the momentum from visa exemption policies and the issuance of open electronic visas.
According to the report of the Statistical Office, GDP in the first 6 months of 2025 increased by 7.52% over the same period last year, the highest level in the first 6 months of the year in the period 2011-2025. Of which, the service sector increased by 8.14%, contributing 52.21%. The increased foreign trade, transportation and tourism activities meet the consumption needs of the region and the world, contributing positively to economic growth.
In the first meeting of the Government Conference with localities after implementing the 2-level local government model on July 3, the Prime Minister assessed tourism as one of the 10 bright spots in the first 6 months of 2025.
The World Tourism Barometer issued in May 2025 by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) in the first quarter of 2025 shows that Vietnam's tourism is a bright spot with the highest growth rate of international tourists in the Asia Pacific region with an increase of 30% over the same period in 2024.
