Gia Lai - Kon Ka Kinh National Park will develop according to a conservation model associated with ecotourism development and creating sustainable livelihoods for buffer zone communities.

On June 1st, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee just issued a decision recognizing Kon Ka Kinh National Park as a tourist destination, opening up opportunities to promote ecotourism development associated with nature conservation and biodiversity.

Kon Ka Kinh National Park has an area of nearly 42,000 hectares, of which more than 93% is natural forest. This place owns a rich primary forest ecosystem with many rare animal and plant species and typical natural landscapes of the Central Highlands region.

In 2003, Kon Ka Kinh National Park was recognized as the ASEAN Heritage Park and is one of the two important core areas of the Kon Ha Nung World Biosphere Reserve.

Being recognized as a tourist destination is expected to create motivation for the unit to develop ecotourism products, natural experiences associated with forest conservation and biodiversity.

Dubbed the "green lungs" of the Central Highlands and South Central Coast, Kon Ka Kinh National Park is home to many rare and precious animal and plant species.

In 2025, the unit received, rescued and re-released 300 forest animal individuals to the natural environment. At the same time, nearly 19,000 hectares of forest were contracted to protect 29 household groups belonging to 18 buffer zone village communities, contributing to improving the efficiency of forest management, protection and development.

Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc - Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee affirmed that Kon Ka Kinh National Park plays a particularly important role in nature conservation, biodiversity, environmental protection, water resource regulation, scientific research and ecotourism development of the province.

At the same time, this is also the core area of the Kon Ha Nung World Biosphere Reserve, a strategic natural asset for Gia Lai, the Central Highlands region and the whole country.

In the coming time, Kon Ka Kinh National Park will develop according to a model of conservation associated with rescue, ecosystem restoration, scientific research, environmental education, ecotourism development and creating sustainable livelihoods for buffer zone communities.
