The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just announced 10 typical events of the industry in 2024, including 3 outstanding tourism events.
First time promoting Vietnamese tourism and cinema in the US
The event took place on September 23-26 in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California, USA with the theme “Vietnam - New Destination of World Cinema”. This is also the highlight of the 2024 promotion plan of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Vietnam Tourism and Cinema Promotion Program in the US is the first time the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized it in the world's film capital of Hollywood. The event gathered more than 500 guests including leading Hollywood producers and directors.
The program marks a breakthrough and innovation in promoting Vietnam tourism to exploit and develop tourism through cinema. At the same time, the event opens a new and promising direction to turn Vietnam into an ideal film studio for leading directors and film producers in Hollywood and around the world.
The highlight of the program is the Workshop introducing the potential of tourism and cinema of Vietnam. The workshop allows the audience to admire the beautiful scenery of Vietnam with excellent films filmed in the S-shaped strip of land.
At the same time, the workshop also introduced Vietnam's mechanisms and policies to facilitate international filmmakers; specific support and incentive commitments from localities and businesses to attract Hollywood filmmakers.

In 2024, despite the volatile domestic and international context, tourism remains a bright spot in the economy. Welcoming 17 million international visitors and 120 million domestic visitors, the tourism industry has marked a full recovery after Covid-19.
In 2024, Vietnam will be honored to receive 3 awards: “Asia's Leading Destination”, “World's Leading Heritage Destination” and “Asia's Leading Natural Destination”. Notably, this is the 6th time in the past 7 years that Vietnam has been honored as “Asia's Leading Destination” (in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), affirming the position of Vietnam tourism as an attractive destination, a bright star on the tourism map of Asia and the world.
Vietnam to host UN Tourism's International Conference on Rural Tourism in 2024
The first International Conference on Rural Tourism, held in December 2024, is a global conference. This is not only an event to promote the development of agricultural and rural tourism in Vietnam, but also demonstrates the role, responsibility and prestige of Vietnam in international tourism organizations, thereby promoting the completion of the sustainable tourism development goals of UN Tourism.
Within the framework of the event series, the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) awarded the title of Best Tourist Village to Tra Que Vegetable Village (Hoi An, Quang Nam). This is also the only representative of Vietnam to win this award this year. This event contributes to honoring the value, spreading the brand and promoting Hoi An, Quang Nam tourism to international visitors.
10 typical cultural, sports and tourism events in 2024
