Nguyen Thao Vy (28 years old, Tay Ninh) with her mother, grandmother and two close friends went on a 5-day, 4-night tour of the North through 10 provinces and cities in the summer of 2024. Recently, Thao Vy shared memories of the women's trip from the South to the North. The post attracted thousands of interactions and comments.
During the long trip, the U80s visited famous landmarks such as Hung Temple (Phu Tho), Coc Leu Market, Lao Cai International Border Gate, Sa Pa, Fansipan (Lao Cai), Hoan Kiem Lake, Phu Chuong, Lang Bac (Hanoi), Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh), Trang An (Ninh Binh).
Ms. Vy's grandmother is Ms. Nguyen Thi Sau (77 years old), two close friends are Ms. Do Kim quen 78 (age), Mai Thi Tranh (73 years old). The three have played together since the 1976s. At that time, the women returned to a hamlet in Tay Ninh to settle down and make a living.

Ms. Vy said: "The same age, the same personality, and the same scene of her husband passing away early, her grandmother and the two friends have been together until now. The widows are struggling to raise their children, so all three always help and encourage each other in life.
When their children and grandchildren are grown up, everyone wants to support and make up for the needs of the women. Because the women like to go here and there, the children and grandchildren often take them to travel many places. I work in Ho Chi Minh City, so they often travel with other members in Tay Ninh; on longer trips, I will fly with them".
Current trips are an indispensable "piece" in the lives of women in their old age. For about 10 years now, the women have traveled together through the provinces of the Mekong Delta many times, Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Buon Ma Thuot, Da Nang, Hue, Quang Binh...
Last April, the couple traveled to Khanh Hoa and Phan Thiet with their children and grandchildren. Ms. Vy revealed that depending on the wishes of the women, the children and grandchildren will take their father and grandmother to go out to suitable locations.

The trip that the three of them love most is traveling to the North, especially in Sa Pa and Hanoi. Despite their old age, the women did not get tired but enjoyed every moment of their trip to the northern mountains. Partly because it has been a long time since this group of U80 best friends returned to the North.
In Sa Pa, Thao Vy's grandmother and two friends did not miss Fansipan peak. "Sa Pa has beautiful scenery and cool climate, and in Hanoi, women have visited Uncle Ho's Mausoleum. The ladies even watched the flag-raising and flag-raising ceremony entire," she said.
When visiting the roof of Indochina, the temperature was only about 10 degrees Celsius, the drizzle and cold wind, the three old men made their children and grandchildren "sick" because of the cold to purple nose, difficulty breathing...
After taking a break, the two still encouraged each other to touch the top of Fansipan. Finally, that dream came true, the beautiful ladies happily held hands to celebrate.

"When the women's stories received great attention from the online community, I myself was extremely surprised. At first, I simply captured the moments I took photos of the ladies as souvenirs. The women and their families were very happy and joyful. The women encouraged themselves to try to get better so that they could go to more places," Ms. Vy added.
Currently, Mrs. Sau still goes to the market every day, helping her daughter cook. Mrs. Sau's two friends also cycle to the market every day to visit relatives. The goal of the three old women is to together all provinces and cities in Vietnam.
