According to FIFA, Chile will host the 2025 U20 World Cup finals. FIFA believes that Chile is a country with experience in organizing major tournaments. The last time, Chile successfully organized the 2015 U17 World Cup finals.
"Since 1962, Chile has hosted FIFA events at the highest level, most recently the 2015 U17 World Cup," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
FIFA has not yet announced the specific organization schedule for the 2025 U20 World Cup. However, President Gianni Infantino believes that this event will witness the birth of future football stars.
"The experience of organizing this country along with the passion of Chilean fans will bring a great scene for future stars," Gianni Infantino added.
FIFA's decision has ended the hopes of the two Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia and Singapore. Previously, the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) and the Singapore Football Federation (FAS) decided to compete together to organize the 2025 U20 World Cup. Indonesia is extremely confident as they have just successfully organized the 2023 U17 World Cup finals.
The 2025 U20 World Cup finals will gather 23 teams and host team Chile. Those who participate in this tournament will compete in continental tournaments. For the Asian region, the 4 teams participating in the semi-finals of the 2025 U20 Asian Cup finals will qualify for the 2025 U20 World Cup.
