Immediately after the defeat, local media attacked Kevin de Bruyne with a heavy aim.

Le Soir also rated De Bruyne as one of the three worst players on the Belgian side, along with striker Batshuayi and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
De Standaard newspaper gave the most severe comment with the title: "The loss to Morocco showed doubts and distrust between the Red Devils. Can someone hold De Bruyne up?"
De Standaard continued to describe: "De Bruyne's form shows that he does not integrate into the team. The form that this midfielder has shown is alarming".
