Hai Phong opens New Year's Film Week 2026

Hai Phong - On December 31st, the City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the inauguration and handover ceremony of Thong Nhat Cinema and the opening of the New Year 2026 Film Week.

Thong Nhat Theater located on Ho Chi Minh Avenue (Le Thanh Nghi ward, Hai Phong city) officially went into operation, marking an important step in completing the system of cultural institutions, serving the cultural and artistic enjoyment needs of city residents.

The project is invested in renovation and upgrading in a modern and synchronous direction, meeting standards for projection, sound, lighting and amenities serving the audience. Thong Nhat Cinema is not only a high-quality film screening location but also an space to organize cultural and artistic activities, exchanges, and film screenings serving the city's political tasks and important events.

Immediately after the inauguration and handover ceremony, the New Year 2026 Film Week was opened, contributing to creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, meeting the film enjoyment needs of the people; and at the same time showing the city of Hai Phong's concern for the cause of cultural and artistic development.

The project to build Thong Nhat cinema was approved in principle by the old Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee (before the merger) from the end of October 2024.

The cinema has a scale of 4 floors, built on an area of 457.2 m2 with a total floor area of about 1,730 m2, with a total investment of nearly 18 billion VND from the legal capital of the enterprise. The project is expected to be completed in the period 2024 - 2025.

According to the initial orientation, Thong Nhat cinema will not only be a modern entertainment space serving the people but also an important cultural institution, combining the task of political and social propaganda of the old city of Hai Duong.

With its prime location and harmonious design between modernity and historical imprint, the project is expected to become a unique cultural rendezvous for local people and tourists.
