Having joined Chelsea for £52 million from RB Leipzig, striker Christopher Nkunku has never lived up to expectations. After a season with injuries, the French striker continues to face difficulties under coach Enzo Maresca. Up to now, Nkunku has only played 9 times in the Premier League after 2 seasons.
Notably, in the Blues' 2-1 victory over Fulham recently, he was not on the list of registered players. Explaining to the media, coach Enzo Maresca said Nkunku was not injured, but his decision was only technical.
In that context, speculation about Chelsea possibly parting ways with Nkunku in the summer transfer window is growing. Currently, the two big teams Bayern Munich and Manchester United are said to be very interested in the French striker.
Legend Frank Leboeuf, who played for Chelsea, did not hesitate to give his opinion: I think they need to cut losses and follow their own paths. This is best for the club but also good for the future of the players. The career is quite short, so you have to react quickly, if the present does not bring results."
Leboeuf believes that Nkunku's difficulties are partly due to the harsh environment at Chelsea: "It's always difficult to move from a family club like Leipzig to a club like Chelsea. The pressure is always greater here and you need to show yourself.
He's unstable, maybe because his position is not right. But he certainly has the qualification and will recover in the future.
