The conference, co-organized by Huawei, the ASEAN Foundation and the ASEAN Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in Nanning, China, aims to create an important premise for countries to discuss the future of digital talent development to meet the rapidly growing digital economy in the region.
Opening the conference, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn - Secretary-General of ASEAN highlighted the role of digital talent in promoting growth and competitiveness of the region compared to the world, as well as highly appreciated the public-private partnership between Huawei and the ASEAN Foundation in enhancing digital skills for the younger generation.
Within the framework of the conference, Huawei also collaborated with Prince of Songkla University (PSU) to launch the first ICT-PSU Innovation and Talent Development Center in APAC (Asia-Pacific), promising to bring many benefits to students and the community through promoting digital transformation of education.
“Huawei APAC is aiming to certify 80,000 engineers and create 1,500 HCIE professionals in the next 5 years,” Mr. Zhou Jinjun, Director of Huawei APAC Training and Certification Services, emphasized in his speech.
Also at the event, 6 outstanding Vietnamese technology students, including: Mai Thi Phuong - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology; Pham Quynh Trang - VinUni University; Cao Sy Duong - Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Nguyen Thi Thu Trang - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology; Dinh Hoang Anh - Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology; Tran Dang Nam - Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, participated in exchanges with a series of young talents from other countries.
These are 6 young talents who surpassed a total of nearly 400 technology students who registered for the preliminary round of the program "Seeds for the Future 2024" season 9, co-organized by Huawei Vietnam, Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) and Posts and Telecommunications Technology Academy (PTIT).
The program then selected 40 outstanding students to participate in courses on AI, 5G, Cloud, Digital Power trained by Huawei, as well as participate in many activities to improve academic knowledge and practical skills from August 13-21, 2024.
During the 9 days of studying in Vietnam, these 40 students visited and experienced the National Innovation Center (NIC), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, VinUni University... and had direct dialogues on various topics with experts from the ICT Industry Department, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) and Huawei Vietnam.
After the training courses, the top 6 students were selected to attend the APAC Digital Talent Summit 2024.
After the conference, 6 Vietnamese students and nearly 130 other international students will visit Huawei facilities in Shenzhen and Dongguan, participate in digital classes, technology research and ICT applications that will last until September 29.
All will also participate in the regional semi-finals of the Tech4Good Competition, with two winning teams advancing to the 2025 global finals in China and receiving funding opportunities, an experiential trip to China, and “1:1” discussions with Huawei leaders.
