According to the report, Da Nang has coordinated the implementation of poverty reduction programs and policies in accordance with the direction of the Central and the city. The work of supporting health care, education, housing, and preferential credit for poor and near-poor households has been effectively implemented, helping many households overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
The whole city has supported the purchase of health insurance for over 181,000 poor and near-poor people; subsidized free medical examination and treatment costs for 27,456 poor people. Regarding education, 52,963 poor students are exempted from tuition fees, scholarships, bicycles and learning tools.
In the housing sector, Da Nang has built more than 400 new houses for poor households, repaired more than 2,500 houses, contributing to helping many families have sustainable housing. Preferential credit support has also been implemented for more than 4,500 households borrowing capital for production and business, with a total outstanding loan balance of nearly 227 billion VND.
In addition, the city actively implements creative poverty reduction models such as raising pigs, building " charity rings", "Spring of Love" program... Thereby mobilizing community strength, creating motivation to help the poor rise up.
Propaganda and reward work for typical collectives and individuals in the movement is focused on, raising social awareness of sustainable poverty reduction. The city also organizes many online conferences and seminars to evaluate, share experiences and determine effective solutions in the coming time.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee emphasized: "In the coming time, the sustainable poverty reduction program needs to focus on prioritizing 3 groups of policies.
"The policies include supporting production development, supporting labor and employment, increasing income for poor households; supporting the poor in accessing social services, prioritizing services associated with multidimensional criteria; developing infrastructure in disadvantaged areas and areas with high poverty rates, prioritizing the development of essential infrastructure. In particular, it is determined that after the merger, there will be many disadvantaged areas, so we must prioritize supporting this area, said Mr. Chinh.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City presented Certificates of Merit to 38 collectives, 29 individuals and 1 household for their outstanding achievements in the movements: "Da Nang City joins hands to build new rural areas"; "For the poor"; Building new rural areas.
