On the morning of January 21, the Soc Trang Provincial Association for Promotion of Education held a ceremony to award the 2024 Luong Dinh Cua scholarship for promoting learning and talent.
At the ceremony, 391 scholarships were awarded to outstanding students. Of these, 336 are students studying at universities nationwide (VND 3 million/scholarship); 50 students admitted to university with the highest total score in 3 subjects in the province (VND 5 million/scholarship) and 5 groups of students won first prize in the 2024 Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Contest (VND 5 million/scholarship). Funding from the sponsorship of Soc Trang Provincial Lottery Company Limited.
Receiving the scholarship on this occasion, Nguyen Trong Hieu - a student of Law Course 50, Can Tho University said that his family's circumstances were difficult, his father had an occupational disease, his mother did whatever she could find, and his older brother dropped out of school to help the family and take care of his education. Hieu's living expenses and tuition were paid for by his family. "The scholarship awarded by the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education has given me strength and motivation to fulfill my dream and complete my studies," Hieu said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Nguyen Van Khoi said that the scholarship awarding ceremony has a humanistic meaning, aiming to encourage and motivate studious students from poor backgrounds to continue studying well, have a bright future and become intellectuals, contributing to building the homeland of Soc Trang to be more prosperous and happy.
Mr. Le Ba Nhiem - Chairman of the Soc Trang Association for the Promotion of Education - informed that in 2024, the Associations at all levels in the province awarded 49,521 scholarships of all kinds, with a total amount of over 47.5 billion VND. In addition to awarding scholarships, the Provincial Association for the Promotion of Education also directly mobilized sponsors to build and award 28 houses for outstanding students who have overcome difficulties in studying and have difficulty in housing, each house worth 70 million VND.
On this occasion, Soc Trang Provincial Lottery Company Limited presented a symbolic board of the 2025 Provincial Education Promotion Fund sponsorship amount of 5 billion VND.
