Kien Giang student won first prize for startup idea

Kien Giang - First prize for the startup idea is Manufacturing environmentally friendly bioplastic film from Vietnamese coffee grounds and cassava starch.

Recently, the final round of the 3rd Mekong Delta Startup Idea Competition in 2024 found the best projects to award prizes.

In the student category, the Organizing Committee awarded first prize to the idea of ​​making environmentally friendly bioplastic film from coffee grounds and Vietnamese cassava starch by students of Huynh Man Dat High School for the Gifted (Kien Giang). In the student category, the Organizing Committee awarded first prize to the Seed Armor project by students of Can Tho University.

According to the Organizing Committee, the contest attracted more than 500 delegates, students and pupils from schools in the region.

Representative of the host organization, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Vice Principal in charge of Kien Giang University, emphasized: The contest aims to provide a useful playground for young people to demonstrate their talents, promote their creativity, as well as learn more valuable knowledge and experience for their startup journey. At the same time, it is a bridge between students and investors and experts, helping young people express their startup ideas, accumulate practical experience and orient their future career journey.

This year’s competition attracted 79 projects from universities, colleges, secondary schools and high schools in the Mekong Delta region. After 2 rounds (training round and voting round), the Organizing Committee selected 52 best projects to enter the final round.

The competition evaluates projects based on seven criteria, including: feasibility, creativity, scalability potential, social impact, teamwork effectiveness, visual presentation, and voting score.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Niem - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Kien Giang province, Chairman of the Student Board of Judges, highly appreciated the quality of the ideas submitted this year, not only for their creativity but also for their high practical applicability. The teams presented professionally, demonstrating thorough preparation and passion for startups. Many projects have solved practical problems in life, promising to become successful startup products in the future.
