On May 26, Quang Binh Newspaper and Radio and Television Station coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to organize the opening ceremony of the first season of the program "English Mastery - mastering English".
The program aims to implement the policy of improving foreign language proficiency, gradually making English the second language in schools. At the same time, it creates an attractive academic playground for secondary school students and enriches the content broadcast on the platforms of the province's Newspaper and Radio and Television Station.
From the district-level preliminary round, 36 excellent students were selected for the official round, divided into 3 groups: Dong Hoi city, towns - cities and communes in 6 districts. The contest includes 9 qualifying matches, 3 semi-finals and 1 live TV final. The first prize winners will receive a 1-week summer study scholarship in Singapore.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hoang Xuan Tan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province said that English is not only a subject, but an essential tool for young people to reach out to the world, access knowledge and global opportunities.
In 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the selection of English as one of the subjects for the 10th grade entrance exam and assigned the task of organizing a television English playground to relevant units.
The program is organized for the first time in a new format, requiring close coordination between agencies, schools and localities. The organizing committee believes that with the methodical investment and enthusiasm of students, the program will spread the love of English, contributing to promoting international integration.
Right after the opening ceremony, the first match officially took place. On this occasion, the organizing committee presented souvenir trophies to the accompanying units.
