This is an international competition for applied research in the field of UAVs co-founded by Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Vietnam Aviation Academy and leading universities from the Czech Republic such as Ostrava Technical University and Tomas Bata University.
The theme of the 2024 competition is “Navigate and drop”, with the aim of developing an unmanned aerial system that allows balls to be dropped or fired at targets on the ground.
The five targets include four drop targets and one goal target. Each target has a different diameter and the UAVs must drop or shoot balls from a certain height relative to the target (above 5 m above the arena floor) with the highest possible accuracy.
This topic comes from the idea of using UAVs to transport goods and relief supplies to isolated areas (due to natural disasters, fires, etc.).
After 2 days of competition between 9 teams, the first prize went to Team SkyVision - Ton Duc Thang University; the second prize went to Team SkyNetics - Ton Duc Thang University; the third prize went to Team Propellers of VSB - Technical University of Ostrava; the encouragement prize went to Team Sempa - Tomas Bata University and the creativity prize was awarded to Team VAERO - Vietnam Aviation Academy.
The 2nd International UAV Design and Construction Competition will be held at the Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) in June 2025.
It is expected that the number of universities participating in the second competition will be more than 10 schools from the following countries: Vietnam, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Netherlands, France... with more than 25 participating teams.
