Opening speech, Mr. Ngô Hữu Hiền - Vice Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee, Chairman of the Organizing Committee stated that the Cam Ranh Crab Festival 2024 is one of the large-scale cultural and tourism activities, first held in Cam Ranh City, in conjunction with the cultural and tourism events of Khánh Hòa Province in 2024.
Through activities at the festival: Food display and establishment of Vietnam's record "120 dishes made from Cam Ranh crabs"; boat racing, thúng shaking competition; parade of flower cars and bicycles; folk art performance, cồng chiêng, and mã la musical instrument performance of the Raglai ethnic minority...
The festival will take place from August 3 to 11, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to admire and experience the cuisine and music in the main area, which is the 18-10 Park.
One of the things that locals and tourists are looking forward to is to admire and enjoy the specialty of Cam Ranh crabs.
According to the announcement of the festival's culinary committee, there are 200 stalls with diverse products such as food, souvenirs, and handicrafts. On the first day of opening, the culinary festival at the Cam Ranh Crab Festival 2024 welcomed over 6,000 visitors to explore, eat, shop, and entertain.
However, many visitors were surprised to find that there was only one stall selling crabs. On the opening night, due to the large number of locals and tourists, many people wanted to buy or see the crabs had to push and shove to get close.
Mr. Nguyễn Công Chánh - Owner of the only crab stall at the culinary festival said: "We sell 40-50 kg of crab per day, priced at 950,000 VND/kg and 830,000 VND/kg, free processing. Fresh live crabs are sold at a preferential price to promote the Cam Ranh crab brand to many locals."
It was quite difficult to enjoy the Cam Ranh crabs at the festival on the opening night, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Đức and his family from Nha Trang City shared: "I didn't think the festival would have so few crab stalls, other seafood stalls were also limited, while there were many street food stalls, ready-to-eat dishes, and fried foods... I was quite disappointed, but I was able to enjoy the famous crab dish."
The opening art program of the Cam Ranh Crab Festival 2024 with the theme "Green Bay Shines" left a lasting impression on the audience.
Director Khoa Nguyễn and his team recreated the space of music, colors, and culture of the sea, blending into the "Vịnh Xanh Dance", "Vịnh Xanh Life", and "Vịnh Xanh Shines" paintings. With a well-arranged stage, lighting, and music, combined with the artists, they brought a memorable music and light show to the audience.
On the opening night, the Vietnam Record Institute also awarded a decision to establish the record "Tinh hoa Vịnh Cam Ranh" - The largest number of dishes made from Cam Ranh crabs in Vietnam (120 dishes - breaking the record) to the Cam Ranh City People's Committee and the Khánh Hòa Province Culinary Culture Association.
