At the meeting, nearly 100 female students of the Hung Dao Secondary School girlfriend Club, aged 12-15, were provided with basic information about the concept and scenario of "online kidnapping", identifying the risks that scammers target students (especially female students) gently and wholeheartedly. Female students are also instructed on skills to prevent fraud in cyberspace and "online kidnapping"; discuss and share situations encountered in practice to improve their skills in prevention and avoidance.
Previously, the Criminal Police Department of the City Police warned about the "online kidnapping" trick. The police recommend that when receiving a phone call with a prosecution or arrest warrant, citizens need to stay calm, not panic, do not provide information, images, bank accounts, OTP codes, do not transfer money. People do not isolate themselves, do not enter hotels and fake the kidnapping request of the subject. If families receive information that their relatives are kidnapped, they should contact the nearest police station to report.
