Kien Giang - The police have cracked down and caught red-handed many subjects storing, using, and illegally trading drugs. Worryingly, the subjects are getting younger.

Recently, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Kien Giang Provincial Police to organize many drug prevention and control propaganda campaigns for people in localities in the province.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Son - Deputy Head of the Department of Investigation of Illegal Drug Production, Department of Investigation Police on Drug Crimes, Ministry of Public Security - said: "Organizing many propaganda sessions in localities helps people understand the harmful effects of drugs and how to prevent them. From there, raise awareness, help people realize the dangers of drugs and know how to protect themselves and their families from temptations. In particular, focus on instructing people on how to recognize signs related to drug crimes and how to coordinate with the authorities".

The recent propaganda campaign was attended by more than 3,000 people including students, officials, civil servants, armed forces, business households, and long-distance and inter-provincial drivers.

Mr. Dao Chi Tam - a resident of U Minh Thuong district - said: "After the police officers explained many issues related to drugs, I have learned and know how to talk to my family, teach my children to stay away from temptations, and be vigilant against suspicious behavior around me."

People understand the harmful effects of drugs, identify drugs disguised as drinks, foods, electronic cigarettes, "laughing gas"... Especially when drugs are gradually becoming "younger", attacking young people, students, and pupils in many forms.

According to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Kien Giang Province Police, recently, the police have cracked down and caught many subjects illegally storing, using, and trading drugs. Worryingly, the subjects are getting younger.

Drugs are being disguised to be brought to school gates to lure students to use them in increasingly sophisticated and bold ways. Previously, Kien Giang Provincial Police had issued a warning about the appearance of new drugs in the form of fruit powder in the area.

Summarizing 5 years of implementing Directive 36 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat, Colonel Nguyen Van Han - Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police - said: Drug-related crimes are still complicated, drug users tend to increase, especially among teenagers.

In addition to patrolling, controlling and arresting criminals, the forces also need to step up propaganda work to the people. Thereby, mobilizing the masses to raise their vigilance, proactively prevent, and actively participate in detecting and denouncing drug crimes.
