Having lived in Hoa Binh city for more than 40 years, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ky (67 years old, living in group 6, Huu Nghi ward) shared with excitement: "My whole family is very excited and proud when Hoa Binh city becomes a type II urban area. I hope the city will have many opportunities to attract investment, the technical infrastructure system will be upgraded, the quality of life of the people will be improved, there will be more job opportunities and more stable income for the people".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang (30 years old, living in Dan Chu ward) said: "People are very happy when Hoa Binh city is recognized as a type II urban area. The city is like changing its appearance, developing harmoniously and balanced along the Da river."
According to Ms. Trang, in recent years, the traffic infrastructure has developed strongly with many projects being invested, renovated, and newly built such as: Hoa Binh 2 Bridge, Hoa Binh 3 Bridge, Chi Lang extended road connecting National Highway 6... Hopefully in the coming time, the city will invest more in road opening projects so that the urban appearance will be increasingly renewed and modern, opening up connecting spaces, developing the economy, and creating livelihoods for many people.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Tay Bac Media and Tourism Company assessed: "Hoa Binh City becoming a type II urban area will open up a space for strong development for the city worthy of being a provincial central urban area, a satellite of Hanoi Capital, a bridge between the Capital and the Northwest, creating favorable conditions for exploiting and developing tourism with its own landscape and identity. Thereby, contributing to promoting tourism to become a driving force contributing positively to the overall socio-economic development of Hoa Binh province".
“Currently, Hoa Binh City has many attractive destinations such as Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Hoa Binh Lake, Tien Phi Cave… festivals such as Cau Ngu Festival and releasing flower lanterns on Da River, Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival… have contributed to stimulating tourism development and attracting and expanding the domestic and international tourist market to the city” – Mr. Tung emphasized.
According to Mr. Pham Anh Quy - Chairman of Hoa Binh City People's Committee, this result was achieved thanks to the close leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and central ministries, branches, local departments and branches; together with the great efforts and determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Hoa Binh City. The ceremony to announce Hoa Binh City as a type II urban area is expected to take place in March 2025.
Previously, on January 7, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 48/QD-TTg on recognizing Hoa Binh City as a type II urban area, directly under Hoa Binh province.
The urban area of Hoa Binh City includes the entire administrative boundary of the existing city with a total natural area of 348.65 km2. The inner city area is expected to include the entire administrative boundary of 12 existing wards and 1 commune expected to be established as a ward (Mong Hoa commune) with a total natural area of 169.87 km2. The suburban area is expected to include the entire administrative boundary of 6 existing communes with a total natural area of 178.78 km2.
