On October 1, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Chau, living in Ward 10, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City, received her pension for October, transferred by the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance to her account opened at VietinBank. Ms. Chau said she was very happy, because if she received her pension in cash, she would have risked losing the money and would have depended on the payment schedule implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office.
“In addition, I can proactively look up the history of receiving money, the amount of money, the account balance, and contribute to ensuring my health when I don't need to go to the payment location, ensuring my health in case of illness or bad weather,” Ms. Chau said excitedly.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Social Security, to reduce intermediaries and help beneficiaries receive money as soon as possible from the beginning of the month, from August 1, 2024, Vietnam Social Security has directly paid monthly pensions and social insurance benefits through personal accounts for beneficiaries at Social Security in 43 provinces and cities.
In the payment period of September 2024, Vietnam Social Security continued to pay monthly pensions and social insurance benefits through personal accounts at 43 provincial and centrally-run social insurance agencies in this form in the payment period of August 2024. For the remaining 20 provincial social insurance agencies, monthly pensions and social insurance benefits will continue to be paid through personal accounts and in cash through the postal system.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, there are currently nearly 260,000 people receiving monthly pensions and social insurance benefits in Ho Chi Minh City. Implementing the policy of the Government and the Prime Minister, in recent times, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance has actively communicated and disseminated the advantages and benefits of receiving social insurance benefits through accounts in the spirit of encouraging beneficiaries to voluntarily participate. To date, about 77.12% of beneficiaries have received pensions, social insurance benefits, and unemployment benefits through personal accounts (an increase of about 5.54% compared to 2023).
Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance encourages people to register to receive monthly pensions and social insurance benefits through their accounts to avoid wasting time traveling and receive pensions quickly and conveniently.
People can receive pensions and social insurance benefits via bank accounts in the following ways: Register to change the form of receiving via personal account (ATM) on the VssID application - Social Insurance number; Contact the provincial and district-level Social Insurance agency where pensions and social insurance benefits are received to make a request or register at monthly pension and social insurance benefit payment points.
