Recently, the Government issued Decree 73/2024/ND-CP dated June 30, 2024 regulating the base salary and bonus regime for officials, civil servants, public employees and the armed forces. Accordingly, from July 1, 2024, the base salary is 2.34 million VND/month, instead of the previous level of 1.8 million VND/month.
Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Agency said that with the increase in the base salary, many social insurance benefits will increase starting from July 2024.
According to current regulations, the allowance for convalescence and health recovery after illness or maternity (equal to 30% of the base salary), so when increasing the base salary to 2.34 million VND/month, the benefit Convalescence and health recovery after illness or maternity increased to 702,000 VND/day, instead of 540,000 VND/day as before. The benefit of 702,000 VND/day also applies to people receiving convalescence and health recovery benefits after treatment for injury or illness from July 2024.
People who receive a one-time allowance when giving birth or adopting a child will also receive increased benefits. Specifically, for female employees who give birth or adopt a child under 6 months old, they will receive a one-time allowance/child equal to twice the base salary. In case a child is born but only the father participates in social insurance, the father will receive a one-time allowance equal to twice the base salary in the month of birth for each child. Therefore, from July 1, 2024, the one-time allowance for giving birth or adopting a child increases from 3.6 million VND to 4.68 million VND.
In addition, relatives of employees who die due to a work accident, occupational disease, or die during the first treatment period are entitled to a one-time allowance of 36 months' base salary, equal to 84.24 million VND, an increase of 11.16 million VND compared to the old level.
For those receiving service allowances, the increase in allowances was also significant. Specifically, an employee whose working capacity is reduced by 81% or more and is paralyzed in the spine or is blind in both eyes or is amputated, paraplegic or has a mental illness, in addition to the benefits prescribed in Article 47 of the Law on Social Insurance, Also receive a monthly service allowance equal to the base salary of 2.34 million VND.
The Social Insurance Law also stipulates that the monthly death benefit for each relative is equal to 50% of the base salary; In case the relative does not have a direct caregiver, the monthly death benefit is equal to 70% of the base salary.
Therefore, from July 1, 2024, the death benefit for each relative is equal to 1.17 million VND/month; In case the relative has no one to directly take care of him/her, the death benefit is equal to 1,638,000 VND/month; Funeral allowance equal to 23.4 million VND (equal to 10 months base salary ).
