Da Nang - 120 scientists and managers attended the Conference to discuss issues on solutions to preserve marine biodiversity in the Central region.

On July 26, the Association of Science and Technology of Da Nang City and the University of Education - University of Da Nang, Green Viet Biodiversity Conservation Center (GreenViet) jointly organized the workshop "Conserving biodiversity Study and sustainable development in the Central and Central Highlands region 5th" with the theme " Marine conservation ".

Currently, Vietnam's fisheries industry has been facing many difficulties and challenges such as: Overexploitation, exploitation with illegal fishing gear; environmental pollution in aquaculture; European Commission's "yellow card" for illegally exploited aquatic products without regulations; Violations of law in the field of marine conservation are increasingly sophisticated and have not been thoroughly resolved...

Marine ecosystems are facing many threats and increasing risks from human development activities such as: Leveling and reclamation of the sea, to build resorts, restaurants, and hotels in coastal areas. coastal and island areas.

Demolition of mangrove forests for aquaculture, construction of tourism facilities and industrial parks; Developing spontaneous marine tourism without planning, not associated with environmental protection, conservation of marine ecosystems...

Marine conservation, protection and sustainable development of aquatic resources is a very important task that is not limited to one country or territory but has become a hot current issue. is a common task of the whole world.

Participating in the conference were 120 delegates who were scientists and managers from social organizations, governments, universities, colleges, institutes, centers, businesses...

The workshop will research and discuss solutions to 6 issues, including: Focusing on spatial planning for marine development based on the ecosystem approach; Pay more attention to the goal of protecting territorial waters and marine economic development strategies; We need to consider agriculture and fishery as an important economic sector.

Tourism development is essentially a connected economic sector; Identify "red lines for ecological protection" and determine to preserve them; Persevere in implementing the correct principles for marine protected areas to develop the marine economy.
