The exhibition opens from 5:00 p.m. on November 28 to December 4, 2024 at the Center for Appraisal and Exhibition of Fine Arts and Photography, 29 Hang Bai, Hanoi.
Lacquer and ceramic works by artists Nguyen Van Thuat, Do Duc Khai, Tran Van Duc, Nguyen Nghia Dau and sculptor Le Van Khuy will be introduced at the exhibition, demonstrating the creative combination of traditional and contemporary art, bringing new perspectives on cultural and artistic values.
It is known that the artists participating in the exhibition all have many years of experience in the profession, with achievements in exhibitions at home and abroad, and prestigious awards.
Nguyen Van Thuat, Tran Van Duc, Nguyen Nghia Dau and Do Duc Khai are lacquer painters, while Le Van Khuy is a sculptor with a unique style. All are committed to promoting and creating on the foundation of traditional art, while always looking for new directions, expressing personal identity in the flow of contemporary art.
The works in the exhibition “Companionship” not only reflect the connection between artists but also demonstrate individual creative efforts, each pursuing a separate path but all aiming towards the development and renewal of traditional art.
At the exhibition, artist Nguyen Nghia Dau brought 5 lacquer works in the form of a circle inscribed in a square, each work containing the image of a female figure with soft, delicate curves.
With his symbolic style, he uses the contrast between invisible dark depth and delicate brushstrokes to create an artistic space that is both mysterious and sensual. These works not only honor the beauty of mother earth but also evoke a poetic space.
Painter Tran Van Duc continues to exploit the theme of festivals and landscapes of his Northern homeland, especially images from highland markets, conical hats and lotus flowers.
Familiar folk details are stylized with a fast, modern rhythm, creating a lively space, full of energy and color. His use of gold and silver in his works creates a harmonious combination of classic and modern.
Artist Do Duc Khai is famous for his works about Long Bien Bridge - the symbol of Hanoi. Although he is not a Hanoian, he has been attached to this bridge for many years and through his works, he expresses his nostalgia, hardship but also its warmth.
His new works follow an abstract trend, demonstrating a deep exploitation of lacquer materials and techniques, opening up a promising new direction in artistic creation.
In addition to his synthetic sculptures, using composite materials and lacquer, Le Van Khuy has also created reliefs with a strong personal touch. His works are not only works of art but also stories about a simple but happy family life. The new material language and the close, natural expression help his works touch the hearts of viewers.
In particular, Nguyen Van Thuat’s lacquer paintings of young girls and flowers also left their mark at the exhibition, creating a dreamy space where the sky and the ground blend together. The vibrant colors, combined with mysterious images, bring a captivating and captivating beauty.
