From Vietnamese films exploiting the theme of family - psychology to action blockbusters, science fiction and international horror, the big screen promises to enter a bustling period to attract audiences back to the cinema after a period of fierce competition with online platforms.
Psychological - romantic films return strongly
Opening the year-end film season is "Getting Married for Father" (aired on November 21) - a Vietnamese work with warm colors - telling the story of a son trying to find happiness for a widowed father, and then realizing the value of family love and love.
On November 28, Vietnamese films continued to appear with " Quan Ky Nam", a story interwoven between reality and memories, exploiting loneliness in the city and the healing journey of vulnerable but always eager to understand.
In December, "Ban dung buon con" (expected December 12) brought a touching story about the maternal love of a single mother and her son overcoming life events. In the international market, "The kinking situation" (December 5) swings deeper into wrong choices, inner conflicts and the desire to be truly loved in the midst of modern life.
A series of horror movies heat up the box office
The audience loves the strong feeling that the film season will start with "Nui te vong" (November 14), an international work exploiting the ancient offering ceremony in the heart of the snow mountain - where the line between sacred and terrifying is erased.
At the end of November, Vietnamese cinema will join Ghost Boarding House (November 28). The film blends comedy - horror elements, revolving around the old boarding house, where many mysterious phenomena involve pregnant women and the secrets that the boarding house owner tries to hide.
Entering December, the box office will see the appearance of three consecutive horror films on the same day, December 5: "The Prince of the screen" - an international work about dark creatures transporting people; "The House of Two Lords" - a Vietnamese film set in an ancient villa haunted by the spirit of hatred; and "The Year of the horror Night" - a Hollywood film revolving around "awake-up" mechanical puppets in an abandoned entertainment area to start the death game.
With the dense presence of The standard rainbow, The Ghosts, The Devils Prince, The House of Two Lords and The Year of the Snake, the last quarter of 2025 promises to be the coldest film season of the year, while marking the strong competition between Vietnamese and international films on the journey to attract audiences back to the cinema.
