Le Vu Phuong shared about the youth souvenirs he brought to the program: A certificate of merit from a special contest for artists who love Trinh's music.
This is an internal competition among artists, not broadcast on television or publicly on social networks. Only those who truly love Trinh Cong Son's music know him," he said.
Sharing with MC Minh Ngoc about the opportunity that brought him to the contest: "At that time, I had only been singing in the tea room for about two years, only knowing a few Trinh songs. The contest requires singing no overlapping song with other contestants throughout the rounds, meaning that you must have a very large song capital to dare to participate.
A close friend quietly registered for him, despite his initial hesitation. Although he did not have much expectation, Le Vu Phuong still tried his best to win recognition from the judges - including two younger brothers of musician Trinh Cong Son and veteran artists.
After the competition, what made Le Vu Phuong feel satisfied was not the title, but the recognition. Every time I step onto the stage, no matter how big or small, I devote my whole heart to music. For me, it was worth it, he confided.
Gradually, Trinh Cong Son's music naturally took over him. He shifted from semi-classical, chamber music to lyrical music with a gentle, approachable singing style like when chatting. The later it got, the more I realized that simplicity was what touched the audiences emotions the most, he shared.
Le Vu Phuong continues to strive with a series of singing competitions for nearly a decade. He shared with modesty and pride: "In 2011, there was, in 2012, there was, in 2013 there was not, but from 2014 to 2019, there was every year. Maybe I am the singer who competes the most in Vietnam. For him, it was a journey to assert himself: I dont allow myself to stop at one title. I want more people to know me, and that can only be achieved through perseverance.
Episode 17 of the Youth Commemoration program will be broadcast at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2025 on VTV9 channel.
