“Culinary Class Wars” is a flavor-based culinary battle between 80 “underdog” chefs (black spoons) and 20 star chefs (white spoons) from Korea. The show ended on October 8 with the victory belonging to “Napoli Matfia” Kwon Sung Joon.
According to Naver, since its release on September 17, “Culinary Class Wars” has ranked first in Netflix’s Global TOP 10 Non-English TV category for three consecutive weeks. With this success, Netflix has officially confirmed the production of season 2 (expected to air in 2025), revealing more fierce culinary battles.
In season 2, the creators of season 1's success, including producers Kim Hak Min, Kim Eun Ji, and screenwriter Mo Eun Seol, will return to bring an upgraded version of the culinary competition.
Naver added, “Culinary Class Wars” attracts viewers around the world with unprecedented cooking competition missions, dynamic sports intensity, and unexpected developments.
The highlight is the journey of leading culinary consultants, including Baek Jong Won - one of Korea's leading restaurant owners, and Ahn Sung Jae - the only 3-star Michelin chef in Korea.
The show has skyrocketed in popularity in Korea. For four consecutive weeks since its release, “Culinary Class Wars” has dominated discussions in Korea, becoming the first OTT (online streaming) variety show to rank No. 1 in Gallup Korea’s September survey of Koreans’ Favorite Shows.
