His path to the profession is not predetermined, but starts from Youth Union activities, student movements and the desire to be more confident in communication.
Precisely from that personal need, Dinh Hieu registered for a hosting class at the Youth Cultural House. The first sessions opened up opportunities for him to try his hand at fair programs, event stages and then television programs. From MC, Dinh Hieu gradually gained attention from TFS directors and was assigned small roles, before making a clear mark in the movie "Huong Phu Sa".
Although he has a certain foothold in the profession, Dinh Hieu still surprised when deciding to study directing. However, he affirmed that the purpose is not to switch to directing, but to understand more deeply about the thinking of the person behind the scenes.
I studied directing not to be a director. I want to know what directors need from actors, so that when working, they can be more synchronous and professional," he shared.
According to Dinh Hieu, extra classes help him see each role more systematically, not just based on emotions or instincts. For him, knowledge is a tool to delve into the character's psychology, helping acting to be less emotional and more profound.
Recently, Dinh Hieu has been active quite regularly in the film industry with roles in the movies "Duyen", "Paradise of Blood" and the weekend short film series of THVL.
The actor believes that short films are even more difficult than long films, because the short duration forces actors to fully convey the story within a very limited framework. "Short films have no place to act slowly or explain lengthily, everything must be accurate and restrained," he said.
Besides work, Dinh Hieu especially values family life. He shared that no matter how busy he is, if he doesn't have to go to the provinces, in the evening he always tries to go home to eat, play with his children and chat with his wife and children before going to bed. For him, maintaining connection with family is the top priority, helping to balance work pressure and spiritual life.
In the short film "The Teacher of Yesterday", Dinh Hieu plays a successful man who always remembers his old teacher. From this role, he believes that the concept of "teacher" is not limited to school. For him, friends, colleagues or audiences can all be "teachers", bringing lessons and perspectives to help himself improve every day.
