The film "Song Hy Lam An" is directed by Ha Vu. Set in Ho Chi Minh City, the film exploits the comedy of a ball between 5 families with 2 engagement parties held close together.
Notably, although it was directed by a young director, "Song Hy Lam An" surprised everyone when it announced the full-faced crew. Among them, there is director Luu Huynh - the person behind the success of "Ao Hoa Ha Dong" (2006, winning the Audience Choice Award at the Busan International Film Festival).
Besides director Luu Huynh, "Song Hy Lam An" also marks the return of another big name. Among the few actors of Vietnamese origin who still maintain a good position in the international market, Dustin Nguyen has made his mark not only in European-American action and martial arts films (The Man with the Iron Fists 2 2015, Warrior series 2019) but also domestically (Heroic Bloodline - 2007, Fire of the Buddha - 2013).
After many years of being absent from the Vietnamese big screen, the actor has now returned with a completely different image from the male lead role named Tri in "Song Hy Lam An". Tri is a calm middle-aged man with the title of "Western party organizer".
Director Ha Vu admitted that at first, he was both happy and felt pressured when Dustin Nguyen and Luu Huynh accepted to participate. However, he gradually realized that it was his two seniors who helped him solve the problems to help the film go in the right direction.
Taking on the role of the female lead in her first film, MisThy will transform into Thy, the illegitimate daughter of Mr. Tri. Sharing the reason for choosing this famous streamer, Ha Vu said: "I think MisThy is very suitable for the female lead character model. Thy (in Song Hy Lam An) is a typical Gen Z. Our girl is dynamic, perfectionist, always wants to assert herself but is a bit sudden, easily angry. There is another interesting thing about MisThy but I will keep it until the film is finished filming".
Gathering a seasoned crew and a cast of famous actors including Dustin Nguyen, Dinh Y Nhung, Jun Vu, MisThy..., the film is expected to be released in March 2026.
