According to the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam, the European Film Festival (EUFF) 2024 will feature a diverse programme of 18 films, many of which have won prestigious awards at film festivals around the world.
The 18 films are encounters with ordinary characters in extraordinary situations, following them beyond the boundaries, taking them on journeys to different spatial and temporal settings across Europe.
Just as cinema traditionally mirrors life, films invite reflections on individual lives and private experiences.
The festival officially opened on November 14 in Hanoi with the premiere of the Polish animated film "The Farmer". The film is based on one of Poland's literary classics and was produced by the same team behind the famous film "Dear Vincent".
On the evening of November 15, EUFF 2024 will come to Ho Chi Minh City. The first screening will be the Spanish film "20,000 Bees" - set in the beautiful Basque country. The film is a touching story about a transgender girl, her journey to find her identity, as well as her connections with the loving family around her.
In addition to the daily screenings, EUFF 2024 will also offer a series of exciting side events, including three in-depth workshops designed specifically for Vietnamese filmmakers and led by European experts, an online film review competition, post-screening discussions with the audience moderated by film critic Le Hong Lam, and many more.
