The beauty of silk paintings in the exhibition of artist Nguyen Thu Huong

On May 5, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Organizing Committee announced the exhibition "Scent of Silk" by artist Nguyen Thu Huong taking place at Eight Gallery (Ho Chi Minh City) from May 11 to June 11, 2025.

The exhibition also introduces the compilation of paintings "The Huong of Silk" (Hong Duc Publishing House, 2025), compiled by Tran Hau Tuan, summarizing Nguyen Thu Huong's silk painting journey after more than 15 years.

Different from the silk works of the nude female artists, the performance of the desire for beauty and the factor of the reality is the dominant, silk of Nguyen Thu Huong does not take advantage of the shiny to specify the skin as well as not to pour the color to pour long clouds ... but often a blue or yellow -shaped shape, a face melted into the background ...

It can be said that Nguyen Thu Huong's silk paintings are a harmony of the soul of modern women - reserved, pious but still strong and affectionate...

Like some contemporary silk painters, Nguyen Thu Huong's silk uses many graphic techniques, an effort to break away from the characteristics of realistic painting with three-dimensional space.

Silk material, which carries the obsession of fragility and ambiguity and blurred painting, has been significantly transformed by Nguyen Thu Huong and other silk artists with colorful patterns and monochrome patches.

Discussing her life and career, Nguyen Thu Huong confided: "Silk paintings are currently loved by many young people and are also painted more than when I was in school. Through solo exhibitions, I see a change in myself.

If at first I decided to choose silk as the main material, I just thought of choosing what few people chose, but later I realized that I should contribute to this material, even though it was very small. Since then, I have studied silk more carefully.

During the writing process, I wanted to change the feelings of the viewer of the painting about both visual and emotional effects on silk....
