She acted in two films Tra ma nuoc and Mat suot nhuong tuong.
As one of the veteran artists of Vietnamese stage and screen, Trinh Kim Chi is trusted by director Hoang Map to be given two "heavy- weighted" roles, requiring great transformation in appearance and psychology. The artist said that both characters are women who suffer a lot of pain, but the way they face adversity is completely different - on one side weak, resilient; on the other side powerful, cold and ready to fight.
In the movie "The Sweet side of the Smoke", Trinh Kim Chi plays Mrs. Tam Luong, a poor woman who sells fried bananas and raises her son Thanh (Tran Nhat Hao) to study alone after her husband passed away. Her life fell into tragedy when she remarried a new man (Ly Nguyen Vuong) - a drunkard and violent, causing the family to constantly disagree. The painful climax was when her only son went missing, suspected of being trafficked across the border. The image of Mrs. Tam in tears and sweat evoked many sympathy for the audience.
In complete contrast, in the film "Tra ma nu", People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi transformed into Mrs. Bay Tra - a widower but the richest and most powerful woman in the region, the owner of a famous tea business. Mrs. Bay Tra has a luxurious, sharp and somewhat cold appearance. Because she did not accept that Cam Loan's (Phuong Ngan) daughter was pregnant with poor Hoai Tam (Le Trung Hieu - Anh Thanh), she tried every way to separate the young couple so that her child could be married to a rich family. This character clearly shows the sophisticated and powerful acting style of People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, when it both exudes majesty and hides the loneliness of a successful woman.
With more than 30 years of working in the arts, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi has left her mark through a series of films such as Noi dao luon, Tinh nhu anh nang, Oan gia Dai Luong, Anh yeu mo don than... In addition to acting, she also holds many roles: Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Stage Director Trinh Kim Chi and Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Stage Arts Training Center.
