The main setting of the film "Wealth with Ghosts" takes place in a poor laborer village, the family of Mr. Đạo (NSƯT Hoài Linh) is also not very affluent when his father works as a porter and his son Lanh (Tuấn Trần) works as a laborer.
Instead of searching for a four-story house to film, the film crew decided to rebuild everything from scratch. Director Trung Lùn shared: “In Ho Chi Minh City, there are many laborer villages. However, I decided to build completely new houses. The reason is that I want there to be a poetic quality in the midst of poverty”.
The film crew spent 14 days meticulously building 14 houses. The location chosen is an area along the river with a "million-dollar view" overlooking the Saigon River and high-rise buildings directly opposite.
This is the intention of the director related to the content of the film, and it also shows the contrast between the rich and the poor. Lanh's dream is to earn a lot of money, become wealthy, and is just a river away, but he has never been able to reach it.
NSƯT Hoài Linh said: “I like this location because it has a contrast. One side is like this, and the other side is too extravagant”.
The process of creating Mr. Đạo and Lanh's house not only relies on ordinary construction techniques but also requires careful attention to every detail to give the impression that this is where the two have lived for dozens of years.
The film "Wealth with Ghosts" is scheduled to be released on August 30, 2024, at cinemas nationwide.
