In the film, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau plays Mr. Sau Sau, a true Western father who has spent his entire life raising a child and is always proud of his only son Ut Tung (played by Truong Minh Thao). After his wife passed away, Mr. Sau devoted all his heart to taking care of his children, just hoping for a peaceful day in the family. However, love turned into control when he arbitrarily organized "arbitration" right on the day of his wife's death, forcing his son to choose a wife according to his wishes.
The trailer opens with the bustling scene of Hai Cay Du hamlet, where Mr. Sau's small coffee shop is the "life center" of the whole hamlet, gathering a series of charming characters such as Mrs. Hai Hanh - Mr. Sau's ex-lover played by People's Artist Hong Van, the "brother" Dinh Khang or the couple Tam Te (Kim Hai). The joyful atmosphere, imbued with the spirit of the West, was quickly replaced by tension when Ut Tung objected to his father: "I can't do that if I want you to show me off like that."
The climax of the film is when Mr. Sau suddenly discovered that his son had a wife and children in the city - the shock that caused the father to fall into a conflict between love and self-respect. The trailer only reveals the image of Thuy Diem and the child in a cramped rented room, causing the audience to ask: what is the "ideal daughter-in-law" that Mr. Sau wants - the girl he chooses or the boy he truly loves?
Director Nguyen Ngoc Lam cleverly intertwined laughter and tears, recreating the rustic and warm scene of the West. Quoc Thien's passionate voice in the trailer further depicts the feelings of a father - loving his children to the point of forcing them to the way he thinks is right.
With the participation of famous actors such as Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, People's Artist Hong Van, Truong Minh Thao, Thuy Diem, Syni Trang, Dinh Khang, the film "Getting Married to Father" promises to bring an emotional cut of life, where father and son learn to understand each other.
