At the beginning of the film, during breakfast, Mr. Hung (Thanh Hoi) excitedly teases Liet (Dung Bino) and Duyen (Duong Gia My), but Phan is not happy and also clearly shows his intention of not wanting Mr. Hung to support this, but Mr. Hung calmly says that if Phan marries Hong, Duyen will also call him "dad".
Seeing that his son was unhappy, he continued to advise him to be patient because he would definitely succeed and to try to approach Hong, while he would approach Mrs. Nha (Ai Nhu).
No sooner said than done, Mr. Hung continued to go to Mrs. Nha's sugarcane juice shop to drink and watch his lover. Seeing that he looked tired, Mrs. Nha blamed him, but Hoa (Pham Hy) thought that Mrs. Nha did that because she loved him.
As for Phan, he also listened to his father and tried to please the teacher. Phan asked Liet to bring a gift to Ms. Hong and told his son to speak politely. Mr. Hung tried to take it but Phan stopped him because Liet was a student who gave a gift to the teacher more appropriately and would not be sent home by Ms. Nha. Mr. Hung was delighted because his son knew how to "flatter women".
Hoa brought food for Mr. Hung and offered him a plan to pursue Mrs. Nha, which was to sell broken rice near Mrs. Nha's sugarcane juice shop. However, with limited skills, Mr. Hung made Mrs. Tam and the group of young men come back to demand compensation after eating broken rice because the ribs were hard, the sausage was salty, and the skin was bland...
Mr. Hung generously returned the money to all those who complained because “business is just for fun, pursuing love is the main thing”. Seeing him happy with Mrs. Tam, Mrs. Nha was not happy.
Because of his grandfather’s “ideal” of love, Liet had to eat broken rice every day, which made him very depressed. Mr. Hung looked angry, so Liet tried to swallow it. His grandfather’s broken rice became the obsession of everyone in the small neighborhood.

And, because he drank too much sugarcane juice, Mr. Hung had to be hospitalized for acute gastritis.
