Set in the Joseon period, The Black Water tells the story of the changing fate of Si Yool (Rowoon) - a person who hides the past and becomes a traitor, Choi Eun (Shin Ye Eun) - the intelligent and upright youngest daughter of a leading Joseon businessman, and Jeong Cheon (Park Seo Ham) - who aim to become an honest tycoon.
After 3 episodes, The October Water attracted attention for its dark story about people living at the bottom of society in ancient times, in which Rowoons character Si Yool was considered a highlight. As a straightforward and martial arts master, Si Yool once wanted to take the exam to become an official to help the poor. However, due to his family background, he could not make that dream come true.
In an angry state, Si Yool went to the palace to demand justice, but while the two sides were fighting, he accidentally set fire to the palace. As a result, he had to flee for many years, and struggled to make a living all day at the ferry terminal. After Mu Deok (Park Ji Hwan) discovers his past and threatens to expose him, Si Yool gradually steps into the world of fragile people.
On screen, the member of SF9 surprised everyone with her angular, dark complexion. The male star's performance in action scenes was quite good, while in psychologically heavy scenes there was progress.
Previously, film director - Choo Chang Min shared that when he invited Rowoon to participate in the film, he "was going to take away his biggest weapon - handsome appearance - but he agreed and completely changed his face and body. In this project, Rowoon really gave his all in every scene without any hesitation.

For him, Si Yool is like a wandering young man, always ready to leave, but after many incidents, he finally finds his own path. This is a very meaningful character to me and like a friend. After the filming ended, I really missed Si Yool.
For Shin Ye Eun, Choi Eun is a bold and special girl - a person who is confident in herself even in difficulty and dares to step forward. With her outstanding appearance, the actress attracted in her historical costumes. Unfortunately, in the first 3 episodes, the characters did not have much screen time or scenes showing psychological depth.
