On the evening of August 24, the final of the Miss International Queen 2024 contest ended with the victory of Catalina Marsano, representative from Peru.
Vietnam's representative, Nguyen Tuong San, finished as 2nd runner-up.
In addition to being the 2nd runner-up, the transgender beauty born in 2005 also received four additional awards: "Best National Costume"; "Miss Photogenic" award (Photogenic Beauty); "Best Performance of Preliminary" award (Best Semi-final performance); "Perfect Skin" award; Third prize in the Talent contest and entered the Top 12 of the contest.
This is a remarkable achievement of Vietnam's representative in the largest transgender beauty arena on the planet, after the victory of Miss Huong Giang in 2018.
In the final night, Tuong San chose to perform an evening gown inspired by cherry blossom petals made by designer Do Long.
At the evening gown competition, the beauty from Khanh Hoa had an excellent performance when successfully recreating the sideways spin, which was compared to H'Hen Nie's performance at Miss Universe 2018.
Tuong San also excellently received the sub-award "Best National Costume" for the design "Noon Dreaming of Shepherds" by designer Nguyen Minh Cong. Before that, she had an impressive performance, playing the role of a buffalo herd boy and then "transformed" into a graceful beauty in a camisole dress during the National Costume performance night.
In the Top 6 behavioral competition, when asked about the issue "Is it fair or not that some countries allow transgender women to participate in sports competitions with heterosexual women", Tuong San replied: "In the minds of transgender people, they all consider themselves to be girls, so I agree on this issue, because we should respect the thoughts of transgender people."
In this part, Tuong San chose to use an interpreter and answered in Vietnamese.
The question was considered long and difficult, and many people pointed out that the interpreter, when translating from English to Vietnamese, omitted the word "fair", so the question after Vietnamese translation was: "You What do you think about transgender people participating in women's sports?
This leads to Tuong San's answer, although it closely follows the Vietnamese translation question, but does not focus on the original question.
This is also said to be the reason why Vietnamese beauties missed the beauty queen crown.
At the Top 3 behavioral competition, the common question for the contestants was "What is the biggest motivation for change to help you become Miss International Transgender 2024?" Tuong San answered that she wanted to help the world. This world is better and more equal.
She shared: "I have dreamed of this dream for 6 years, and this is also the motivation that helped me be in the top 3 today and make history for Vietnam."
Nguyen Tuong San (birth name is Nguyen Hoang Bao Phuc), born in 2005, is a transgender beauty from Khanh Hoa. She participated in the 2023 Hoan My Ambassador contest (Miss International Queen Vietnam 2023), exactly 12 days after her gender reassignment surgery.
At the Miss Transgender Vietnam 2023 contest, Tuong San finished 1st runner-up, winning the right to compete in the Miss Transgender International contest after a sub-competition that took place later, when competing with 2nd runner-up An Pediatric.
Tuong San has an impressive height of 1.79m, measurements 83-56-84.
Besides her impressive figure, she is also highly appreciated for her sharp thinking and ability to communicate confidently in both English and Thai.
