Why is self-love important in relationships?
According to mental health expert Dr. Chandni Tugnait - Founder & Director - Gateway of Healing (India), self-love helps people set their own standards and limits in relationships.
Instead of trying to lower yourself to please others in relationships, loving yourself helps you always maintain your limits, boundaries and inherent values to avoid unnecessary hurt.
How to Love Yourself in a Relationship
Always believe that you deserve to be loved
Realize that you are worthy of love and respect. Don't let your feelings of inadequacy make you dependent on anything. When you love yourself, you attract a relationship based on empathy and equality.
Take time for yourself
Don’t lose your individuality and interests just to please your partner. Keep some private time for yourself to pursue your interests, develop yourself, or simply relax to balance things out.
Don't try to please others
No one is perfect, so it's hard to please everyone. And if you live to please everyone, you'll either burn out or you'll have to live up to other people's expectations.
Believe in yourself
If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. The person who knows you best is your best friend, so if you keep dragging your self-worth down and doubting your own strengths, others will question your abilities too.
Hold your head high, be proud of yourself, and strive for what you want without fear of failure. You have the power and ability so believe that you can use them to achieve your goals.
Always try to be kind and loving
Surely you will also know the law of cause and effect of the universe, when we sow a good seed, good things will come to us. Therefore, in life, if you are kind and give love to everyone without calculation, it will proactively return and give you many times more than what you give.
