BigDaddy's debut album, "Nhan Tran", is full of Hanoi's essence - the place where the male rapper was born and raised, and also the land he has loved so much since his childhood until now.
The album "Nhan Tran" includes 8 tracks, in addition to Intro and Outro, there are 6 songs including: "Mua Tham Lang Troi", "Nhan Tran", "Se Lam Heal", "Nhung Cuoc Mua Long Cuoi Dong", "Don Sim Nhu Weaving a Basket", "Bo Nhu Ao"...
Right from the combined artists, the project has a strong Hanoi mark. Besides GREY D, the album brings together 3 generations deeply attached to Hanoi: Diva Hong Nhung of the 7X generation, BigDaddy, Emily, DuongK of the late 8X - early 9X generation, while 2pillz, WOKEUP, TEZ, Ogenus are Gen Z faces.
Most of the album is about love in adolescence when BigDaddy was still living in Hanoi. "At the moment, I am very happy with my life, so I want to put chill and positive experiences into my music.
I want the audience to feel a certain lightness in their soul when listening to this album, and feel the beauty of Hanoi. From there, they will know how to appreciate the present, try harder in the future, but there is no need to be too resentful about the past" - BigDaddy said.
Typical Hanoi scenes such as souvenir shops in the old quarter, street stalls, graffiti, old-style houses... and the curious eyes of passersby, all opened a journey filled with the rhythm of Hanoi life.
In particular, in the collaboration with his wife Emily, the male rapper used the image of the wormwood plant - a drink that has both a bitter and sweet taste, a familiar thirst quencher for the couple to talk about happiness in love.
Born and raised in Hanoi, his love for the city is also expressed throughout the album "Nhan Tran". Right from the way he names the songs, BigDaddy uses expressions that are very local, for example "Bo nhu ao" (What is it like now), "Don lich nhu nen basket".
Typical representatives of Hanoi street food such as "biting sunflower seeds, drinking artemisia", "taking advantage of making a bowl of Tho Nhuom sticky rice", or the classic call "xoi lac banh khuc here" are all cleverly incorporated by BigDaddy.
"There are many things I love about Hanoi: the cuisine, the streets, the style of Hanoians or the motorbike taxis. But what I love the most is probably Hanoi's winter because it is also associated with many memories. Hanoi has changed a lot now, but every time I go to the Old Quarter in winter, it always feels close and familiar" - BigDaddy said.
With his debut album, the male rapper hopes that the audience will have a clearer understanding of him at the present time. Although it has a strong personal color, BigDaddy's music is still aimed at the general audience.
On this occasion, BigDaddy also introduced the MV "Bo nhu ao" in collaboration with Phuc Du, TEZ, Ogenus as the confession of 4 Rappers leaving behind the exciting youth years in Hanoi, coming to Saigon to develop their musical journey.
The MV was made by director Khanh Nguyen's team.
