Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. In addition to risk factors from the living environment, some genetic changes can be passed down through generations in the family, increasing the risk of cancer.
According to the Global Cancer Regulatory Organization (GLOBOCAN 2022), each year in Vietnam, breast cancer has 24,563 new cases and 10,008 deaths; ovarian cancer has 1,534 new cases and 1,003 deaths; prostate cancer has 5,875 new cases and 2,800 deaths; pancreatic cancer has 1,251 new cases and 1,226 deaths.
The rate of genetic mutation (sudden changes in the germline of the BRCA1/2 line in cancer diseases recorded by medicine: ovarian tissue cancer (about 15%), adenoid regurgitation cancer (10-17%), positive endocrine-receptive breast cancer (6%), prostate cancer (5-10%), pancreatic tissue cancer (5-7%).
This situation requires the diagnosis and improvement of the quality of treatment for herited cancer to be promoted and prioritized in the coming time.
