On February 11, People's Hospital 115 said that the unit had successfully provided overnight emergency care for Mr. O.G (37 years old, Russian nationality) with multiple injuries after a traffic accident.
The male patient was taken to the hospital in a state of multiple injuries, severe shortness of breath, pain in the right chest accompanied by pain in the right shoulder, and progressive respiratory failure.
Immediately upon admission, the patient underwent emergency chest-vascular CT scan. The team recorded that the patient had a large amount of right pleural effusion, pulmonary compression causing shortness of breath; fracture of the axle on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th right ribs; complex fracture of the middle 1/3 of the right collarbone, large displacement, with fragments.
Faced with the risk of progressive respiratory failure, the team of doctors urgently performed emergency pleural drainage surgery. The procedure was performed quickly and accurately, helping the lungs reopen well, significantly improving the patient's respiratory condition after only a few hours.
After 2 days of post-operative treatment, the patient's respiratory condition stabilized, and the drainage tube was removed. The patient continued to be treated for collarbone injury.
After consultation, the patient was assessed to be safe enough to undergo a second surgery, combining the right collarbone with a screwdriver.
Surgery progressed smoothly, screws were firmly placed, and the bone axis recovered anatomically well. After surgery, the patient recovered quickly, right arm movements improved day by day, and he was discharged after 4 days of treatment.
Despite facing language barriers and being far from his family, Mr. O.G still received dedicated support from the team of doctors and nurses.
Before being discharged from the hospital, the patient expressed satisfaction, sent words of thanks and was impressed with the rapid emergency speed, the smooth coordination between departments and the sense of responsibility of the Vietnamese team of doctors.
