On the night of October 27 and early morning of October 28, the special-purpose ship SAR 631 of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center successfully rescued a fisherman from Quang Ngai province who suffered from acute intestinal pain while operating at sea far from shore.
Previously, on October 27, the Center received a distress signal from fishing boat QNg-90459-TS. Fisherman Nguyen Van Cong (52 years old), residing in Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province, showed symptoms of high fever, severe abdominal pain and difficulty breathing. Realizing the seriousness of the disease, the captain sent an urgent signal to request rescue.
Through verification, the Center determined the location of the ship in a remote sea area, more than 200 nautical miles from the mainland, in weather conditions with Northeast winds of level 5-6, rough seas. The center immediately connected the fishing boat QNg-90459-TS and the Da Nang 115 Emergency Center for remote medical support. After aunteer examination, the doctor diagnosed the patient as having a high risk of acute excess enterocolitis, which needed to be brought to the shore urgently for timely surgery.
The center has instructed fishing vessels to move quickly towards the Gia Lai coast (old Binh Dinh area), and at the same time asked for instructions from the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Vietnam Waterway Administration to mobilize specialized rescue vessel SAR 631 to depart for rescue, carrying a military medic.
At around 8:00 p.m. on October 27, the SAR 631 ship approached the distressed ship amid high waves and winds. The fishermen in pain were transferred to a rescue boat for emergency care in a specialized medical room. After the patient's condition stabilized, the SAR 631 ship immediately returned to the mainland, bringing the patient safely to shore overnight.
By dawn on October 28, the patient had been handed over to a hospital in Gia Lai province for further treatment. Thanks to timely emergency care, fisherman Nguyen Van Cong has temporarily stabilized.
Previously, in the early morning of October 27, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center also successfully rescued 8 crew members of the Thai Ha 8888 ship carrying 5,900 tons of cement that sank in the waters of Da Nang. All crew members were rescued and brought to shore safely.
