On March 28, Quang Ninh District General Hospital (Quang Binh Province) announced that doctors had just successfully removed a live sling about 3cm long from the nose of a male patient.
The patient is Mr. H.V.B (born in 1975, residing in Truong Son commune, Quang Ninh district). Mr. B went to the hospital in an uncomfortable condition, bleeding continuously in the nose for about a week.
Through examination and endoscopy, the doctors discovered a 3cm long sling living in the patient's right nasal cavity. Immediately, the medical team performed an endoscopy to remove the foreign object.
The doctor said that the patient lives in a mountainous commune, often goes to the forest, bathes in rivers and streams, so he is more likely to invade the body through his nose. Parasite suction can be dangerous if not detected and treated promptly, such as bloody suction causing anemia, edema, airway obstruction or nasal congestion.
After successfully removing the foreign object, the patient's health condition was stable. Doctors recommend that people living in mountainous areas need to pay attention to protecting their bodies when going to the forest, bathing in the stream, and avoid squeezing into the nose, ears or throat.
