On January 21, information from Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital said that the hospital had just saved and successfully treated a 30-week-old premature baby in critical condition with symptoms of pericardial effusion and acute respiratory failure.

50 days ago, patient V.T.M. was born at 30 weeks gestation, weighing 1.1 kg. Immediately after birth, the patient was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital in a state of respiratory failure.
According to Thanh Hoa Children's Hospital, immediately after being admitted, the child was put on a ventilator, given intravenous nutrition, and given high doses of antibiotics. During treatment, the child experienced episodes of cyanosis and a rapid but weak heartbeat.
After performing a chest X-ray and echocardiogram, the doctors discovered that the child had a large amount of pericardial effusion, causing cardiac tamponade and reduced left ventricular systolic function. Given the situation, the doctors decided to open a pericardial effusion drainage procedure under ultrasound guidance. After 50 days of treatment, the child's health was stable, his weight reached 1.3 kg and he was discharged home.
